Description

Okay! Finally a deviantID that I'm entirely happy with. n.n I showed my mom and the first thing she said was, "That's an amazing picture of you." Sounds like a success to me!

Between sketching, scanning, cleaning, coloring, and editing, it probably took around four, maybe five hours. Most of that time was spent in GIMP2, which with every picture, I feel I understand a bit more. I'm -really- glad I put the time in to figuring out the who's and what's of that program. It is very worth the frustration.

The picture captures exactly what I wanted it to, perfect for an ID especially due to the artistic suggestion of its contents. It's also very emblematic of me. The hair is my hair to the T. The shirt, the color of the shirt, the build of the girl, even the way she's holding the pencil. I actually took a picture of my hand (yes I went that far) holding a pencil, so that is 100% me right there. The only other thing worth noting is the outline-- I left it sketchy because my style is very sketchy. What you see there is the original pencil drawn lineart. Doing it this way, I feel like in spite of the experimental stage with GIMP, it is a way to stay true to myself, and true to my style.

But alas. For my first upload of 2010 (though sixteen days too late), I'm completely and utterly satisfied. I hope you all like it as much as I do. ^_^
